Jerry & Wes

What is the event attire?

Business casual, including chinos and summer dresses. We recommend bringing a hat and sunglasses for the sun, and a light jacket or windbreaker as it can get cool and breezy at night along the beach. The sidewalks and roads around the venue are on a steep grade, and there are grassy or sandy areas, so plan accordingly for safe walking.

Is there a theme?

The celebration will have a weather and coastal theme. Our decor colors are: Slate Blue & Dusty Rose

What is the deadline to RSVP?

We ask that everyone RSVP by Saturday, June 15th, as the hotel block and food orders must be completed by then. If plans change, just let us know as the caterer is very accommodating.

Can we bring our kids?

Children under 16 are discouraged. We have limited space at the venue and are near a cliff over the beach. If you need to bring kids in order to attend, they are of course welcome, but please contact one of us after RSVP'ing so we can discuss accommodations.

What is the expected weather?

Average high of 75° and low of 66° in La Jolla; it can be much warmer as you move inland. During July, there is a near zero chance of rain (it is in the dry season). 87% of the time, it is clear or party cloudy. Water temperature is cool but near perfect this time of year if you wish to surf, wade, or swim in the ocean.

Is the venue on the beach?

The Martin Johnson House is located between the beach and campus buildings, on a short cliff with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean along several walkways. There is a sidewalk that leads to stairs, if you wish to access the beach (5-10 min walk). Walking route to beach access.

Anything important to know about the venue?

The Martin Johnson House is a historic building on the UCSD campus. There is little space indoors, so please plan accordingly. There are two bathrooms available and a kitchen and prep room areas. Please note that because this state property, all campus rules apply including no smoking (of any kind). The sidewalks and roads are on a steep grade. Please respect the venue (Jerry works for UCSD!) and the environment by using canvas bags and reusable water bottles, pick up any trash, and secure lightweight items to keep them from blowing away.

Is there an open bar?

Yes, there will be an open bar with several options for beer, wine, liquor, and call cocktails. Tips to the bartenders and servers are optional but encouraged.

Will there be other activities?

We will have a Live Photo Booth with fun custom and weather-themed backgrounds, DJ and dance floor, a view of the sunset over the ocean (if the marine layer stays away), and plenty of areas to explore nearby before dinner including the oceanography campus and beach.

What is the dinner and other food like?

The food is delicious. The event kicks off with a short ceremony and then cocktail hour with tray-passed hors-d'œuvres. Dinner is provided, and there will be a Dessert Station and Coffee & Tea Station after dinner.

Is there a shuttle?
